The Cressi Archimede 2 dive computer is a new and improved cousin of already popular and respected dive computer. The new version improved on its intuitive operation and added new, futuristic look and updated software. It has a range of new functions: three safety levels, indicator for maximum depths visible while decompressing, indicator of maximum speed of ascent, backlighting and temperature sensor. The new GAUGE feature simplifies the options by selecting just a few: maximum depth, dive duration, ascent speed and time. The GAUGE function operates at up to 200 metres. For those who like nitrox de-saturation, the Archimede 2 enables diver to choose between two different nitrox mixes during the single dive. One mix can contains between 21 and 50 percents of oxygen, and the other between 21 and 99 percents. The percentage is preset before the dive, and can be chosen at any time while in the water. The pressure selection ranges between 1 and 1.6 bars. To improve the dive safety by monitoring the tissue saturation mechanism, the new updated software analyzes 12 sample tissues instead of previous 9. With all its high tech features, which make it so attractive to advanced divers, the Cressi Archimede 2 dive computer is easy to master even for the beginners. It is intuitive and easy to learn, and the diver is not forced to use all the available features. To make diving even more easy and focused on the underwater environment, Cressi automated all settings: from the water start to automatic dive calculations, whether there is need for decompression or not. They consider it very good value for the price. Professional divers who tested Archimede 2 found all features performing as specified. The replaceable screen guard was also well appreciated. One complaint is that the computer is not hoseless. Also, the low battery warning was not visible enough and the battery does not last as long as specified. Some users noted that the manual was too complicated. Computer is also considered very conservative, which is not too popular with experienced divers. |
