What customers think

There are still too few divers using the OC1, so the reviews come mostly from those who were lucky to be allowed to test it. Most find the Oceanic OC1 user-friendly and easy to use, but they suggest that divers should use online instruction videos and detailed written instructions that Oceanic prepared, in order to be able to make the most of their new toy, because there are just so many innovations and new features.

There are several demos and “virtual” tours available on the Oceanic website. Even with demos, divers find that it takes some time and experience to discover all the new features of this advanced dive computer. Particularly impressive is the speed and ease in changing air to Nitrox. The advanced digital compass takes some time to get used to, but it performs excellently.

Although they find it impressive, the divers find that the buddy check receiver is not strong enough to transmit signal to more than a foot distance. Experienced divers like the dual algorithm option, because they find RGBM too conservative.
