Product Description

The Suunto D9 dive computer is the first personal dive computer with integrated digital compass and wireless tank data transfer. The optional wireless transmitter allows the diver to monitor air consumption and pressure on his wristwatch display. Using the same wireless transmitter, the dive instructor can monitor his or her student’s dive data and air supply. This feature makes it a powerful tool for dive schools. Sleek look and high-tech features make this dive computer look like something from James Bond’s collection of gadgets. Some Scuba Soul reviewers declared Suunto D9 the best dive computer available today.

Features

• Tank pressure and remaining dive time are displayed both graphically and numerically.
• This dive computer uses Deep Stop Suunto RGBM (Reduced Gradient Bubble Model) to calculate decompression stops, allowing for deep stops instead of standard safety stops.
• Suunto D9 uses three or less different air mixes (from 21 to 100 percent oxygen), which can be switched while diving.
• Logbook stores dive profile with real time tank pressure and water temperature.
• On the display, maximum depth is 660ft.
• Digital compass uses both graphical compass rose and the numerical display
• Memory stores compass headings and dive information to download for further analysis after your dive.
• Electro-luminescent backlighting
• Titanium housing
• Mineral Crystal Glass
• Liquid Crystal Dot-matrix Display
• Suunto software Dive Manager and PC Interface.

What The Customers Say

Customers find that the Suunto D9 has easy to use function buttons, it is comfortable to wear since it is the size of a regular wristwatch, and it has very nice display. One of the most appreciated features is the computer’s enormous memory: lifetime history memory stores the total number of dives, dive hours and maximum depth ever reached.

Some customers find this dive computer complicated to use and complain that reading the guidebook was necessary (!) Also, the display is relatively small compared to some other dive computers, and it is difficult to read in poor light conditions under water. Customers consider this an acceptable trade-off for a sleek design and a small size.

Another complaint is about the wireless transmitter, which has to reconnect with a dive tank, once the tank is changed, by putting the computer next to the tank. Recreational divers welcome the typical Suunto conservative dive profiles, which puts the safety over dive time.
