Product Description

The Suunto X Lander Wrist Top Computer is a large, but very light watch in a high-tech non-allergenic aluminum casing, scratchproof mineral crystal, and a water-resistant fabric strap. This super watch has a range of features of a computer: altimeter, barometer, electronic compass, and a calendar clock. All features make it an ideal timepiece for outdoor enthusiasts like hikers, mountain climbers, fishermen, off-road skiers. The barometer provides sufficiently accurate clues that the weather is changing, and the electronic compass makes sure that you are on track.

The built-in altimeter has a range of up to 29,500 feet, more than most mountaineers will ever need. Altimeter also measures altitude changes, allowing you to follow the vertical progress. Suunto’s memory stores the altitude and ascent/decent rate for every hour for 24 hours, and has an altitude alarm. The logbook function lets you record total ascents and descents, as well as the number of runs skied.

Features

• Altimeter with a range of up to 29,500 feet and automatic 24-hour memory

• Compass has cardinal bearing, North-South arrow, and declination setting
• Stopwatch with split-time measurement is water-resistant to 100 feet
• Thermometer
• Backlight / Electroluminescent
• Three daily alarms

What Customers Say

Most customers are impressed with Suunto XLander and consider it an excellent watch for outdoor and even military activities. It is considered a powerful orienteering tool without the GPS. Together with a map, it enables the user to easily work out the exact location. The compass makes it easy to get from point A to B.

Mineral crystal glass and tough aluminum casing make Suunto XLander a perfect watch to take to a toughest trips. The barometer function is extremely accurate in predicting weather changes, as well as in making adjustments to altimeter settings.

One of the few negative comments is about the sensitivity of the compass to movements off the horizontal plane. In order to get accurate readings, it is necessary to be on the flat surface and to stop movement. Temperature reading is also accurate only if the watch is taken off the wrist for 10 to 15 minutes. One customer pointed out the importance of sufficiently loud alarms, which make a big difference in a storm, or other situation with a lot of background noise. Backlight is considered weak compared to some other Suunto computers.
